Invented Space
Invented Space is series of paintings that began by fabricating temporary models of impossible structures using scraps of acrylic, wood, aluminum, glass, and discarded parts of previous work.
What interests me is how the process of building these models and moving through or around them to choose different compositions taught me to feel the forces at work in their construction. In making these paintings, I played the role of architect, traveler, and translator.
The resulting painted topologies explore edges and intersections, weight and light, depth and flatness, and subtle shifts in color. The formal tensions in the work point to an ongoing preoccupation with understanding form as “a diagram of forces”.
